CARMEN MONTERO

Hello and welcome.

I’m a painter whose work explores the relationship between landscape, memory, and emotion.

For me, painting is born from observation and experience. I find inspiration in landscapes, nature, and those places that leave a mark and remain in memory. I am interested in the relationship we build with our surroundings—how we inhabit them and how, over time, they also become part of us.

In my works, figures, architecture, or inhabited spaces sometimes appear. At times, they take on a leading role; other times, they are more subtly integrated. Yet they always form part of the same story. I seek to understand the landscape not merely as a space we observe but as a place lived—where nature, human presence, and memory coexist inseparably.

Color is an essential part of my work. It does not aim to faithfully reproduce reality, but to convey the intensity, atmosphere, and emotion that an experience leaves within me. Through painting, I try to preserve that impression—what remains when the moment has already passed.
